Overview

Barbados Pharmaceutical Inc. (BPI) was set up by the Government of Barbados in 2023 to build a regional pharmaceutical industry from the ground up. Government backing gave it a national mandate, but day-to-day operations felt like a young company: building its team, signing early partners, and figuring out how to present its work to investors and governments.

BPI came to us for a website. The initial brief set out six strategic pillars, named investors, regulators, researchers, partners and the media as audiences, and asked for the site in three languages.

As the project progressed, BPI’s work moved quickly, with new initiatives and partnerships taking shape while the site was being designed. We worked alongside the team to give that momentum a clear shape, including building out the brand identity and writing the content strategy and copy for around 30 pages, so the site could explain BPI’s work as it grew.

BPI’s website connects every priority, sector, initiative, and partner so that visitors can follow BPI’s strategy down to a specific project and the organisations behind it, and it's available in five languages. Behind the site, we set up the Microsoft 365 environment, access security, and the Monday.com workspace the team uses every day, and we directed a brand film with BPI’s leadership.

Brand

A brand system grown from BPI’s existing logo

BPI arrived with a logo and early brand elements. We helped them develop those materials into a complete identity for a team that spends much of its time in front of governments and partners abroad.

What We Did

  • Extended the logo into a full system of colour, typography and graphic patterns drawn from its molecular mark
  • Wrote brand guidelines so BPI’s team and suppliers can apply the identity consistently
  • Designed business cards for the leadership team, plus event materials for international conferences and trade missions
  • Coded adaptive HTML email signatures that keep their layout in both light and dark mail clients

Content

Content structured to keep pace with a growing organisation

BPI’s initiatives and partnerships were still taking shape when writing began. We set the content structure first, then wrote each page so new initiatives and partners could be added without rewriting what was already there.

What We Did

  • Mapped every initiative to the priorities, sectors and partners it serves, so a reader can follow BPI’s strategy down to a specific project
  • Wrote copy for around 30 pages covering every priority, sector, initiative and partner, working with Write Good Stories
  • Set an editorial template for each page type, covering structure, length and voice, so sector, initiative and partner pages read consistently
  • Ran a page-by-page SEO pass on titles, descriptions and headings, pairing BPI’s chosen page names with plain descriptive titles for search
  • Prepared Spanish, French, Portuguese and Dutch translations, keeping organisation and initiative names in their original form where that reads naturally

Website

A multilingual website built to institutional standards

BPI needed a website that could speak to investors, governments and partners in their own languages, protect the personal data they shared, and stay current without a developer on hand. We built it in five languages, with event registration and data protection that meet GDPR and CARICOM standards.

What We Did

  • Designed and built the website on Next.js, with Sanity as the content platform
  • Set up language-prefixed URLs and localised content for five languages, including translated metadata so each language version can be found in search
  • Modelled priorities, sectors, initiatives and partners as linked content types, so a new initiative can be connected to every related page as soon as it’s published
  • Built site-wide search and registration for free and paid events
  • Connected analytics, social channels and a partnership enquiry form, with data collection set up to meet GDPR and CARICOM requirements
  • Designed a blog template with separate lead, summary, body and flexible section fields, so BPI’s team can publish without a developer

Film

The mission told through the people leading it and the projects in motion

Much of BPI’s work is still being built, which is hard to capture in just a photograph. Film let us show that work as it happens and give partners and investors the reasoning behind it in BPI’s own words.

What We Did

  • Filmed interviews with BPI’s leadership on why the organisation exists and where it’s heading
  • Captured footage of the AMA partnership and the IV fluids donation to Queen Elizabeth Hospital
  • Edited versions for the website, conferences and social channels

Systems

A shared, secure workspace for a team that works across borders

As BPI hired and began travelling for partnerships, the team needed one place to work and clear control over who could reach what. We set up the environment behind the public work and connected it to how the team runs projects.

What We Did

  • Provisioned a new Microsoft 365 tenant and migrated the team’s mailboxes without interrupting email
  • Configured Conditional Access and multi-factor authentication, with rules for secure sign-in while travelling
  • Structured SharePoint around BPI’s business areas so documents have clear owners and locations
  • Built BPI’s Monday.com workspace around its portfolio charter, so day-to-day project work tracks against the organisation’s strategic priorities
  • Gave leadership a single view of progress, risks and partnerships across every initiative, replacing spreadsheets and status emails

Outcome

A clear public story and a shared way of working

BPI now has an identity, website and film that explain its work to partners, investors and governments in the languages of the markets it serves. Its team works in one secure environment and tracks projects in one place. New initiatives and partners slot into a structure that already exists, and we continue to support that work as BPI grows.

What We Did

  • Site live in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Dutch
  • BPI’s team can publish initiatives, partners and news through Sanity without needing developer support
  • Every initiative linked to its priorities, sectors and partners
  • The whole team on one Microsoft 365 tenant with multi-factor authentication

Client feedback

In their words.

“The team took time to understand what we were building and brought the different parts together. We came away with a clearer way to present our work and a stronger foundation for the team behind it.”
Dr. Cindi A. Lewis,Chief Executive Officer A.g. – Barbados Pharmaceutical Inc.
